Scharn Robinson, JD, PhD, is an investigations specialist and dispute resolution professional with more than two decades of experience leading high-stakes investigations and resolving complex disputes through negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and litigation.
A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley School of Law (J.D.) and the University of Michigan (Ph.D., American Politics), Ms. Robinson built her investigative expertise over more than two decades in federal government service and private practice. As a former Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Columbia, she led hundreds of criminal investigations, tried more than 40 cases, and obtained approximately 200 indictments. She then served as Special Trial Counsel at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, where she designed and directed high-profile investigations into securities fraud, corporate misconduct, and attorney ethical violations — leading witness interviews, taking sworn testimony,
and preparing investigative findings and reports. Earlier in her career, Ms. Robinson conducted corporate internal investigations and defended clients in SEC and DOJ investigations as an associate at O’Melveny & Myers LLP and Paul Hastings LLP. Through this work, Ms. Robinson has gained extensive experience settling disputes, conducting investigations, and resolving complex private and governmental actions.
Ms. Robinson is a certified mediator of the Supreme Court of Virginia and holds specialized certificates in Family Law Mediation. She is a University of Maryland, Francis King Carey School of Law-trained and FINRA-certified arbitrator. Ms. Robinson is also a member of the American Bar Association’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, the Virginia State Bar’s Corporate Counsel and Family Law Sections, and the State Bar of Georgia Animal Law Section. She is an active member of the Academy of Court-Appointed Neutrals. A dedicated legal educator, Ms. Robinson has taught constitutional law, criminal procedure, and judicial process as a professor at universities including Howard University, American University Washington College of Law, and The Washington Center.
